Under the leadership and guidance of Mr. V.K Agarwal, with his brothers, established the STERLING group in 1964 with a modest beginning producing 21 engines to be used as a prime mover in diesel
engine pumpsets. This beginning was during the starting of green revolution in the country and foreseeing the need to power agriculture to boost yield, his vision for company’s growth and contribution in India’s agricultural
growth was exemplary. Through sheer dedication and commitment to quality, the brand image and business volume started climbing up under the brand name of “BHARAT”.
By early 1990’s Sterling group was manufacturing over 45,000 units annually and was recognized amongst the top manufactures in the country.
The contribution of Sterling Company in the green revolution with “BHARAT” as its brand can be well gauged by the fact that it has over half-a-million satisfied customers
in a very fruitful ongoing relationship. Sterling reaches out to these and other potential customers through
it extended arm, the vast dealership network which is fully equipped to render pre-sales and after sales service spread across the length and breadth of the country.

Year after year “BHARAT” engines are being exported to Nepal Bangladesh, Maldives, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, West Indies, Cuba, Nicaragua,
Jordan, Yemen, Madagascar, Uganda, Morocco, Afghanistan etc. Sterling has been regular recipient of various awards and recognitions instituted by Govt. of India and other state Government for outstanding performance. These
awards have been the inspiration to excel and perform better in future.
